The best part of my job is watching the moment chemistry finally clicks.

The Mind Behind the Method

Meet Michelle Wynn

People are often surprised to learn that I wasn’t always a “science person.”

Growing up, my father was a chemistry professor, so science was always part of our dinner table conversations. Yet in high school, I was much more at home in music, theater, and creative writing than I was in chemistry or math. I admired science, but I wasn’t convinced it was something I was meant to do.
That changed when I discovered neuroscience. For the first time, science felt less like memorizing facts and more like solving a fascinating puzzle. I realized that understanding wasn’t about being naturally gifted-it was about finding an explanation that finally clicked. That experience has shaped every aspect of my teaching.
For more than 20 years, I’ve taught and tutored students in AP, honors, and college-level chemistry. Some of my students are aiming for top universities. Others are frustrated, overwhelmed, or convinced they’re simply “not good at chemistry.”
I don’t believe that.
Every student learns differently. My role isn’t simply to explain chemistry-it’s to discover how each student learns best. Drawing on my background in chemistry, neuroscience, and education, I tailor every session to the individual, helping students move beyond memorization toward genuine understanding.
There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a student stop saying, “I’m just bad at chemistry,” and start saying, “I finally get it.”
That’s why I do this work.

Credentials & Recognition

Working with Complex Learners

I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges. These students are often bright, insightful, and highly capable-but they require a more structured, intentional approach to learning. When given the right framework, their performance-and confidence-can shift dramatically.

My Teaching Philosophy

At the core of my work is a simple belief: students need to feel both supported and challenged to grow. When those conditions are met, even the most frustrated learners begin to see themselves differently. That shift is where everything changes. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student realize they can solve a problem they once believed was beyond them.

A Legacy of Chemistry Education

My father, Dr. Charles M. Wynn, devoted more than 55 years to teaching chemistry and making science accessible through his textbooks and laboratory manuals.

His commitment to scientific curiosity, clear instruction, and student success continues to inspire my work today. The values that guide Wynn Chemistry-curiosity, clarity, and confidence-are rooted in that legacy.
